Mark Pooley, FCA
Mark trained with Hollingdales, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1994. He worked as a manager for Hollingdales and Kidsons Impey until 1998. His portfolio of clients included charities and owner managed businesses.
In 1998 Mark set up, together with a colleague, a successful firm McEwen & Pooley that provided accountancy and taxation services to local charities and businesses. On the retirement of Mark’s business partner in early 2004, McEwen & Pooley merged with The John Hollingdale Partnership to become Hollingdale Pooley.
Mark has developed a strong understanding of the accountancy, audit and taxation issues facing organisations and individuals. His areas of expertise include Charities, Owner managed businesses, Trust tax and Inheritance tax planning.
Kathryn Harris BSC Econ, MAAT, ATT, CTA
Kathryn trained with Ernst & Young, before moving to an independent practice in Cardiff, Watts Gregory, with a staff of 50. Kathryn held the position of Audit Manager for fifteen years, specialising in Owner Managed businesses with a turnover of £1M – 30M, and in particular, obtained extensive experience of Company and Group taxation, including complex tax planning in connection with Capital Gains rollover and holdover claims.
Kathryn then specialised as a Corporate Tax Manager, qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Chartered Institute of Taxation in November 2004.
Kathryn joined Hollingdale Pooley as Tax Manager in November 2005 and is the tax partner responsible for all aspects of personal and corporate taxation.
Philip Barry - ACA
Philip trained with a large independent practice in Cardiff, Watts Gregory, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 where he specialised in the provision of accounts, audit and taxation work for small and medium sized businesses.
Following qualification, he has gained significant audit experience in both the private and the public sector working for Audit New Zealand, PKF, RSM Robson Rhodes (Grant Thornton) and Deloitte & Touche. His experience includes reviews of organisational governance and performance, internal controls, and grant certification in addition to financial statement audit work.
Philip is responsible for a portfolio of clients specialising in accounts and audit work across a variety of sectors.
Tanya Stratton MAAT
Tanya qualified as an Accounting Technician with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in 1989 and then joined Hollingdales as an Accounts manager looking after a portfolio of professional partnerships and sole traders.
She became the office manager for Hollingdales and successfully managed its office merger with the Bristol office of HLB Kidsons in 1997, then took a deserved career break following the birth of twins in 1998.
After working on a freelance basis for a number of charities, professional firms and small companies preparing management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT returns and payroll returns Tanya was pleased to join John Hollingdale and Mark Pooley and other former colleagues from Hollingdales in 2006 at Hollingdale Pooley.
Tanya looks after several large charities, managing the bookkeeping role on a weekly basis, as well as preparing management and statutory accounts. She is also office manager for Hollingdale Pooley and was promoted to Principal in February 2008.
